Plan would let CMS levy taxes: "Mecklenburg commissioners Chairman Parks Helms said Monday he supports giving Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools the power to levy taxes -- and that he has bipartisan backing from a majority on his board."
I think this is a good idea. Make the people that spend the money ask for the money. This should dramatically change the face of the CMS board; it could also push the breakup of CMS into smaller districts.
