Newsday.com: Pataki proposes workers compensation overhaul:
"ALBANY, N.Y. -- Gov. George Pataki proposed Thursday an overhaul of the state's workers' compensation program that has been derided as a hurdle to economic growth by business leaders around the state.
Pataki's plan would reduce workers' compensation costs for businesses by more than 15 percent, while increasing benefits for injured workers by 25 percent. The plan would save New York businesses $850 million a year, even with the added benefits, officials said. "
