Charlotte Observer | 03/09/2006 | Atlanta's hot under helmet: "Who's Safer?
Both downtown Atlanta and uptown Charlotte have been plagued by perceptions of high crime. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution asked Cap Index Inc., a company that analyzes security risks for businesses, to give an opinion based on crime within a 3-mile radius of both cities' hall sites. The result: Charlotte received a risk assessment of 6.3 times higher than the national average. Atlanta's was eight times the national average."
Why is the NASCAR Hall of Fame the story here and not Charlotte's (or Atlanta's) crime rate? Seriously, what is going to have more direct and indirect impact on the citizens of said communities?
